Seit 2000 wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Forschungszentrum Deutscher Sprachatlas der Philipps-Universität Marburg und seit 2006 in der Geschäftsführung am Forschungszentrum Deutscher Sprachatlas, 2008 trat er in die erweiterte Projektleitung des Akademie-Projekts Regionalsprache.de (REDE) ein, 2011 folgte die Habilitation an der Philipps-Universität Marburg. Forschungsschwerpunkte: Phonetik/Phonologie, Prosodie, Gesprochene Sprache, Konversationsanalyse, Variationslinguistik, Regionalsprachenforschung und Sprachkartographie. Buch, gebundene Ausgabe.
