John Bellamy worked at both the University of Vienna and the University of Manchester before completing a PhD in sociolinguistics. Having taught language and linguistics at the University of Sheffield, he is currently a lecturer in German at the University of Exeter. His research interests are language attitudes, folk linguistics, language variation and perceptual dialectology.
