The modern world started Library automation in late 1960s? however developing countries like Pakistan started library automation in late 1980s?. However bureaucratic style of management, slow pace to adapt technology, funding problems, infrastructure of HEIs and role of professional associations proved to be the main hurdles in library automation in Pakistan.
