In this study I evaluate the effectiveness of relapse prevention techniques and the impact of the treatment environment in the rehabilitation of substance abuse. The group consisted of nine individuals, two females and seven males, varying in age from 18 - 65. Three individuals dropped out of the program. The Duquesne method was used to analyse the qualitative data. Observation, interviews, documents and questionnaires were used. The three questionnaires were scored and the results clinically appraised. The questionnaires verified the results that were obtained through observing the group session and showed that the treatment program inconclusively influenced the depression and anxiety levels, of the respective patients. The study has resulted in important and innovative recommendations that can be implemented in order to refine and enhance the existing program.
