Ihre Verbreitung findet sie im südlichen Bauchi-Gebiet in Nord-Nigeria. Bislang liegt keine Untersuchung dieser Minoritätensprache vor und es ist insgesamt wenig über sie bekannt, obwohl sie, wie eine ganze Reihe dieser Sprachen von Sprachtod bedroht ist. Andrew Haruna, Linguist und Semisprecher des GùrdùÊ, hat sich mit der vorliegenden Studie zur Aufgabe gemacht, diese Dokumentationslücke innerhalb der Tschadistik zu schließen.
