Now the continuation is in their hands, I can only express the sincere hope that it may not unduly dis appoint any expectations which they may have formed. I These volumes cover the period extending from the accession of Queen Elizabeth to the Industrial Revolution and the Agrarian Revolution of the later eighteenth century. In each section I have chosen what seemed to be the most appropriate point of conclusion.
