The young filmmaker Hardy von Hachenstein has set up shop in New York, trying to find a producer for his movie. Sure of his talent he expects to be welcomed with flair and fanfare but first needs to swallow a good chunk of humble pie. Against all odds, Hardy keeps pushing on. On numerous occasions, Hardy is wedged between a rock and a hard place but just like the great Houdini manages to wiggle himself out of it.
