LA Times BIOGRAFIE Sullivan, Vernon (FR): Boris Vian wurde 1920 in Ville d'Avray in Frankreich geboren. Nach Beendigung seines Ingenieurstudiums 1942 arbeitete er zunächst in seinem Beruf, unternahm jedoch bereits 1941 erste schriftstellerische Versuche. Ein Jahr später entstand sein erster Roman 'Aufruhr in den Ardennen'. Gleichzeitig machte Vian Karriere als Jazzmusiker und schrieb für verschiedene Zeitschriften musikkritische Beiträge. Für Provokation sorgt er mit dem 1946 verfaßten Roman 'Ich werde auf eure Gräber spucken', der zunächst ein Bestseller, dann verboten wurde. Vian arbeitete mit Michel Arnaud und Raymond Queneau an Filmprojekten und betätigte sich als Übersetzer, Redakteur einer Musikzeitschrift, Schauspieler sowie Verfasser von Chansons, Novellen, Sketchen und Ballettentwürfen.
